Business, Corporations, UE Stewardship and Finance

The essence of a corporation is a large number of people working towards one or a series of goals. In theory this sounds excellent, and yet the current structure of most corporationsโ€™ funnels wealth and power up.

I recommend businesses and corporations transition to various forms of anarcho-syndicalist co-operatives, where workers who are actually present and hands-on, rather than remote shareholders, vote on company matters, using the UE model for democracy and communication (above). An organisationโ€™s management structure/style would be a matter for their internal democracy v. (Workers could vote for a hierarchical system, for example). Existing corporations could also devolve and operate as smaller semi-autonomous federated units to resemble something like Mondragon: a network of 95 self-governing co-operatives in Spainโ€™s Basque Country, comprised of over 80,000 workers. The federated co-operative comes 10th in Spainโ€™s business rankings, so their mode of operation proves the success of โ€˜federatingโ€™ (at scale), as opposed to centralising power.ย

Corporations exploiting or providing essential resources and services, such as water and energy, etc., and where a serviceโ€™s complexity demands it โ€“ such as with transport or communication, will be transitioned to UE stewardship/oversight using anarcho-syndicalist models of governance. These services could be set up with transparent semi-opensource public engagement capabilities (so anyone can see the inner workings/budgets and contribute ideas, for example).

Corporations with pervasive and โ€˜essentialโ€™ technology/infrastructure/platforms (such as Starlink, Google, Facebook, X, Amazon, Spotify, etc, specifically, and AI companies) should be reviewed for such a stewardship transition.ย

Smaller private initiatives/businesses will remain private, however, workers already receiving a UBI take the pressure off a company having to make a profit. Since workers are under little financial pressure to stay though, it does incentivise employers and other employees to maintain a pleasant working environment and to be doing something worthwhile or stimulating etc. Again, I recommend anarcho-syndicalism.ย

โ€˜Atro had once explained to him how this was managed, how the sergeants could give the privates orders, how the lieutenants could give the privates and the sergeants orders, how the captains… and so on and so on up to the generals, who could give everyone else orders and need take them from none, except the commander in chief. Shevek had listened with incredulous disgust. โ€œYou call that organization?โ€ he had inquired. โ€œYou even call it discipline? But it is neither. It is a coercive mechanism of extraordinary inefficiency โ€” a kind of seventh-millennium steam engine! With such a rigid and fragile structure what could be done that was worth doing?โ€

Please try using the (efficient) โ€˜Six Thinking Hatsโ€™ method of parallel thinking for sharing your ideas.
It helps us to organise our thoughts and feelings. Wear the Black Hat for critisism/doubts; the Green hat for creative suggestions; the Yellow for positive responses, Red for gut feelings; White for information. I am wearing the Blue Hat now, when I say we are here to design Eutopia.

Simply write โ€˜Blackโ€™, โ€˜Yellowโ€™, โ€˜Greenโ€™, etc, before your given response. Then, start a new paragraph for ideas of a different coloured hat.
