Art of Climbing Trees

Walkabout. Manifesto. Eutopia.

Thank you, everyone, who has given me feedback; it is feed; it has fed me. It makes it worth the years spent in various states of ‘solitary confinement’ – wrestling with the words, and images, to the point of nearly going mad with them. The book, hidden in my computer, was a kind of seed, and now it has been woken – reaching out. Until publication, I was speaking to myself into the darkness – save for the generous editors, who joined me for some of the way – enlightening my words – as good conversation should. A work of art; a book; a play, is just the beginning of a conversation…

I will be adding a page for mistakes, spotted typos, updates, revisions, new ideas, and critique, for version 2, if I get there. I will welcome it all. – Henrik

Compliments for A.C.T.

“What a miracle of book! What a work of art and thought! What a wonderful, beautiful, engaging project! Makes me think, makes me feel, makes me hope! What a generous gift to us all!”.

“It’s not every day that you’re invited to be interviewed for a book but on the understanding that the interview has to take place up a tree. In agreeing to take part I discovered that not only has my tree-climbing ability declined hugely since my childhood, but also that there’s a beautiful quality to the discussions then unfold. I’ve no idea why. Perhaps it’s the change of perspective. Perhaps it’s being cradled in the arms of a tree. Perhaps it’s the slight imminent terror of a rapid fall to earth. But when you put a whole bunch of interviews together in this quirky, beautiful and surprisingly profound book, something emerges that could only have emerged up there, among the branches”.

Anonymous compliments:

“Been reading your book…it’s really very good – I didn’t know you were such a good writer!”

“Henrik! I just got my copy of your beautiful book 😍😍😍 it’s so beautiful. I can’t even. I’m so happy for you, it’s an absolute triumph”

“It’s the only book you need, I might get rid of all my other books.”

“The way you’ve made the covers and like, some of the pages have that flip book functionality, it’s very cool even just in terms of skim reading, I’m looking forward to reading it man 🙂”

“Your book is too big and grand and full of all kinds of wonderful things to comment on in a short text.”

“I started reading your book this morning and loving your writing style already.”

“The most physically beautiful book I’ve ever owned. Let’s start there…”

“Thanks so much for the book. To start with it is a beautiful object. I love the cover, the picture, the weight and texture. The print on first pages is a delightful extra. I like the challenge of having to turn the book upside down to read the intro… and the print echoing the shape of the tree rings. I got as far as as the contents – appreciate the crazy colour and shape coding for content – your obsessiveness, that I relate to in myself. Then started dotting about finding people that I knew in trees, talking in that different way that the situation stimulated. Great!”

“Perhaps one of the most interesting, important and informative books I have encountered. I only got this yesterday and I can’t put it down. By reading this you will become stronger of mind and body. A great purchase if you are into trees and the future of our planet.”
