Reigning in the climate tipping points is clearly a number one priority. It’ll need to be a co-operative wartime effort in peacetime – it’ll need to be World Peace I, funded by a good chunk of our GloWS budget, with frivolous investments in research for ideas such as ‘Enhanced Silicate Rock Weathering’ and renewably powered direct air capture and storage machines. We can manage and use more wood, hemp, bamboo, etc., as carbon storage while avoiding any further destruction of virgin forests and greenwashing solutions such as BECCS²⁴⁸. 

More significantly, as toxins cease to flow out of our factories and homes, the ocean’s fertilising phytoplankton are allowed to restore to pre-1940s/chemical revolution era, while a moratorium on nearly all fishing takes place so the entire marine trophic cascade comes back to life, digesting our unwanted gases on a gargantuan scale. All the soils of the Earth are given the kiss of life, and all inhale: Panic-planting and tree-planting races²⁷ give trillions of trees a start, in support of the vast burgeoning re-wildernesses on three-quarters of the planet*, alongside our organic no-plough farming and regenerative agriculture. Combined, these efforts may bring our vagrant molecules in from the cold and cool us. Cool. 

(We try to ‘avoid solving a problem and causing another problem’, so I’d stay clear of synthetic geoengineering).
