Education

Patriarchy

Although many of the measures of the Greenprint are implicitly designed to bring an end to patriarchy through equal access to resources and power, the problem needs addressing directly at the earliest stages of education.

The primary focus for education resources should be directed at empowering women and girls. To this end (and the flip side of the coin), attention should be given to boys in subduing their tendency to seek domination183. Focussed time may be given to exploring our emotional landscapes as early in life as possible in order to process and integrate received trauma. An emphasis may be placed on boys practising empathy over individualism and co-operation over competition (while also being mindful not to stifle the healthily charged and joyous nature of childhood). If simply holding a baby – even a plastic one – lowers testosterone and teaches caring, we might then encourage their use in play. We can prioritise dialogue within an education setting for conflicts to be resolved quickly115. The overall aim is priming boys to become men who take responsibility for their testosterone183, to know themselves and to keep tabs on behaviour.

We can raise the bar for what behaviours are unacceptable – to expand what violence is (with Jainism in mind199) – and heavily invest in material solutions with the aim of healing: People who are violent or excessively controlling could be provoked or even forced to address the root of their behaviours. These interventions should come as early as possible (ideally from the community) when there are warning signs as a pre-emptive defence. We can increase the services for those seeking refuge from their local oppressors and further challenge any remaining taboo of seeking therapeutic help – that for some equals weakness – the opposite of what is currently deemed to be manhood. Elevate the role of therapist/counsellor with the aim of attracting more therapists and councillors.

Aside from gender equality being better for everyone, it is empowered women who will humanely reduce, or level off our population to a sustainable number298

Please try using the (efficient) ‘Six Thinking Hats’ method of parallel thinking for sharing your ideas.
It helps us to organise our thoughts and feelings. Wear the Black Hat for critisism/doubts; the Green hat for creative suggestions; the Yellow for positive responses, Red for gut feelings; White for information. I am wearing the Blue Hat now, when I say we are here to design Eutopia.

Simply write ‘Black’, ‘Yellow’, ‘Green’, etc, before your given response. Then, start a new paragraph for ideas of a different coloured hat.
