Knowledge of good healthy, and evil destructive practices

Freeing the knowledge71. All intellectual property – patents, academic publications, books (including Art of Climbing Trees, of course), music, etc., is released to the Creative Commons. Private servers containing research and development are made available, exponentially increasing the size of the internet. (The internet is already energy hungry, so with our new freedom of information, a tiered system of commonly or less commonly accessed data can be stored on more or less energy intensive, i.e., faster/slower servers – a system already in use by Facebook, for example. Data could also be downloaded to local libraries for even greater efficiency. The question of spending our energy budget on sharing information is, of course, a value judgment.)

Total freedom of information (minus strictly private communications and health records etc.,) will expose the depth and truth of ‘old world’ corruption. This is essential to begin the healing process, lend weight for reparations and give credibility to creating a new and better world.

Weakening or removing a profit motive for a company to exist and the promise of individual safety via UBI/S alongside the Asset Cap will decrease the impulse or need for secrecy/guarding patents. (There will be nothing to gain from hoarding ideas other than the smug satisfaction of knowing things others don’t). No law will prevent a company from reverse engineering a product after release and manufacturing it. It will, however, be hard to undercut the originator and steal market share since materials, energy, and labour will cost roughly the same everywhere. Companies stealing adopting ideas/designs from distant producers and manufacturing them locally may be saving transport costs and potentially doing us all a favour. (There could also be mechanisms built into the grant appropriation system that help us avoid spoiling each other’s plans and over-manufacturing products.)

From a place of personal safety, we can begin to foster a culture of gifting ideas to the UE. Sharing information/releasing patents, etc., will speed our progress; increase efficiency as fast as humanly possible; avoid time wasted repeating experiments by different teams, and further weaken the need of competition/the need to ‘win’. Much of the science community already operates in this way, and the internet itself is a testament to our willingness to share.

Whistle-blowers of illegal activities will be given every necessary protection, and again, our safety net of UBIs will remove a threat of losing the financial protection of a paying job.

Ring fence potentially dangerous knowledge (such as the manufacture of glyphosate). Access to such knowledge could be gained via application and block-chain vote.

Please try using the (efficient) ‘Six Thinking Hats’ method of parallel thinking for sharing your ideas.
It helps us to organise our thoughts and feelings. Wear the Black Hat for critisism/doubts; the Green hat for creative suggestions; the Yellow for positive responses, Red for gut feelings; White for information. I am wearing the Blue Hat now, when I say we are here to design Eutopia.

Simply write ‘Black’, ‘Yellow’, ‘Green’, etc, before your given response. Then, start a new paragraph for ideas of a different coloured hat.
